The network of schools in the area of Miedźno commune consists of the St Queen Jadwiga Junior High School in Miedźno, the group of schools in Ostrawa by Oksza, the primary school of Volhynian Cavalry Brigade, the primary and preschool group of schools in Mokra as well as the two commune preschools in Miedźno and Ostrawa by Oksza. The Cultural Community Centre (Gminny Ośrodek Kultury - GOK) operates in the area of the commune, preparing free time activities all-year-round for both residents and guests. The permanent events organized by GOK include the commune Firefighter Day (May 3), Sobótka—Kupała Night (June 24), The Commune Harvest Festival (August), The Soccer Village Tournament (July-August), commemorational ceremonies of the battle of Mokra (September), St Nicolas Day (December). The Cultural Community Centre offers permanent forms of activities directed for the youth: a song studio, drama workshops, art and craft workshops. The participants of particular activities present their skills and talents at festival and commune ceremonies. GOK provides care and support for the following organizations: The Łęgowianki Singing Group and The Firefighters Orchestra from Miedźna and Ostrów by Okszą. GOK also includes the library, whose collection is continuously being updated. Rounding out the offer is the Youth Club in Ostrowy by Oksza, which has an internet cafe as well as a childcare facility in Władysławów, Izbiskach, Borowa, Kołaczkowice and Mokra (run together with the parish).

There are two sporting clubs in the commune: Naprzód Ostrowy and Grom Miedźno.

They offer sports fields with facilities. They both include a football pitch, a tennis court, a beach volleyball court, and a Streetball court.

Three Roman Catholic parishes deal with the spiritual side of life:

1.      The Church of St. Catherine of Alexandria in Miedźno (from 1425)

2.      The Church of Stigmata of St. Francis of Assisi in Ostrowy by Oksza (from 1922)

3.      The Church of St. Simon and St. Jude Thaddeus in Mokra (from 1981)

 

There are 6 Volunteer Fire Departments divisions in the area of the Miedźno Commune:

  4. Borowa (S-2)
  5. Władysławów (S-1)
  6. Kołaczkowice (S-1)

Apart from fire suppression and other related emergency services, firefighters actively support GOK in the organization of cultural events.
